STEVEN UNIVERSE S5:E13-REVIEW

Back for more Steven Universe? Yeah I’m not waiting on the TV release, the CN app has them, so here goes.
After a few months with no new episodes we get this, a sort of recap of what’s gone on that also seems to expand minor details we’ve already known regarding Rose and her rebellion against the Diamonds. It’s a fairly standard episode with some really nice visuals (the silhouettes are well done) but it’s a nice way to continue from the previous episode’s big reveals.

This time, we see Lars and the Off-Colors are still in space, losing fuel as their voyage to Earth continues. Steven brings Garnet, introducing the Off-Colors to history of the Crystal Gems, which captivates the minds of these outcasts, until the inevitable failure of Rose is brought up. Garnet manages to build their confidence up though, with the suggestion that more like them might exist on Homeworld, possibly being the key to winning the war. The episode closes with Steven explaining to Garnet what he saw in the last episode, suggesting Pink Diamond May actually be alive.

I have a very small gripe with this episode, I could be wrong, but why is Steven fine with Rose shattering Pink Diamond now? I get that after some time he’d be less bothered by the event, but that he looks excited to hear it was just, odd.

In any case, this was a fun episode, not a great one, but I do like it and I’m glad to see Steven back.
