I was honestly surprised, a Sandler movie that seems restrained from his usual shtick? Especially with how easy it'd be to apply it here?
Pixels looks like a straightforward action movie with some jokes thrown in because, well video games, yet the jokes are pretty funny, without ever going far into the typical Sandler routine. Based on a short film (
this one), the movie seems to be taking a more
Ghostbusters like route here, which will be interesting once the reboot to that comes out, I'm betting neither will be as good as Ghostbusters, but it'll be fun to compare the two as successors. I'm honestly interested in this movie, despite the signs of it being bad I think it has potential, though one has to wonder if the film will feature more cameos of iconic video game developers.Pixels are coming July 24th, 2015.
